STORIES OF
CLEVELAND’S HISTORY
FROM 1875 TO 1929
Hear the Cleveland Storyteller share the entertaining stories of Cleveland’s past, including John D. Rockefeller, Samuel Mather, Laura Mae Corrigan and other notable personalities.
Dan Ruminski tells stories that illuminate what made Cleveland great in the last decades of the 19th century and the first three decades of the 20th century. He is motivated by more than the glamour or nostalgia associated with the history of this region. He wishes, with stories of the past, to help discussion on how we can renew our civic greatness.
Cleveland’s history is rich in stories of creativity, imagination, determination, and courage. I want to celebrate individual Clevelanders and the great families who changed this area and the world. I want to inspire audiences and light up the hearts and minds of Cleveland’s younger citizens, help our community find its way to a future that honors and learns from achievements of our past. I want to promote the community I loved as a boy and still do.

A Stroll Down Millionaires’ Row
Book
Cleveland storyteller Dan Ruminski discovered that the 6 acres under his home were originally part of a 1,400-acre grand estate known as the Circle W Farm created by Walter White, founding brother of the White Motor Company. Drawn in by the fascinating history, Ruminski’s investigation soon embraced the full legacy of Cleveland’s industrial history and the indomitable characters who created the city’s Gilded Age. John D. Rockefeller, Samuel Mather and more giants of industry built Cleveland’s Millionaires’ Row. Come peek inside the once-grand mansions these millionaires called home and hear the delightful stories that bring the past to life. Join Ruminski and Alan Dutka on a return to this section of Euclid Avenue, which wasn’t merely the most stunning show of wealth in Cleveland but also in the entire country.
